Thinking of adding some phrase in one of the corners; sort of how Chinese court artists would stamp their names along with a poem. Something like:

"Bone of Obsidian,
Flesh of Hell's Precipice;
Augury Rock calls to you."

Eh, depends how I feel about the end product.

Woooow Charlie... Looks awesome! Makes me wanna scrap my project :P

I was thinking about posting a wip too but I don't feel like mine deserves its own thread. So IF I get done with it, I'll post it into the contest.

I think Zamochit will be delighted to part with a window of Ecto, for the pleasure of having spurred what you are creating ~

Looking forward to seeing your finished piece along with everyone else that's entering.

And thanks a lot for the feedback, guys. I liked Tzu's idea from the Halloween thread of posting your progress as you go along. Seems nifty to watch the piece transform as you go along the different stages. Anyways, here's the last installment before I post the completed piece. This lacks that glowing PS effect - debating on how much Adobe I want to use on this piece now.

Awesome. Just plain awesome.

What do you use to shade the background/pure-black areas? Marker?

I love how cleanly the characters pop out from the background in some areas yet fade into darkness in others.

I'm just working with a mechanical pencil. All the black mass is just from me grinding the living hell out of led to paper.

And I'm glad you like the blending effect

I sort of envisioned the Doppleganger fight to be pretty chaotic; fighting in a pitch black room. Any and all light you see is coming off the Doppleganger's head and big honking Chaos Axe.

o_O mechanical pencil for shading something that large? What kind of lead do you use? I'd think the paper would rip from shading that heavy with mechanical

Not too sure of the number since I threw the container away awhile ago. Still, the lead is relatively soft so it doesn't really tear unless I tilt the head to an angle when it's razor sharp.

Reason I use mech. pencil is because I noticed that when I combine it with standard graphite pencils, the mixture of shading is just a slight bit different. Whenever I see that, it starts to irk me after a while and eventually just go at it again with my other pencil. Really isn't that noticeable, but I'm OC when it comes to drawing.

And judging from your artwork, I'm guessing your Chinese? Your brushwork is very similar to watercolor.
